1. Who are we?

We are Blackdown Hearing Limited, an independent hearing healthcare provider; we supply and fit hearing aids tailored to an individual's needs, helping customers to hear in Somerset. Blackdown Hearing Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12773024, and our registered address is 40 St James Buildings, St James Street, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 1JR.

2. Clinic Appointments

Please note that all appointments must be confirmed before clinic attendance, and we can only offer our hearing care services to those aged 18 or over.

3. Online Bookings

Online booking is available for clinic appointments only. If you require a home visit, please submit your details here or call 01823 586777. Ear wax removal treatment is only available at our Taunton clinic, not as a home visit. Our hearing care services available to book online are only available to those aged 18 or over.

4. Hearing aid terms and conditions

All quotations are made, and orders accepted subject to the following terms and benefits and are in addition to your statutory rights, which remain unaffected. The term "hearing aid" refers to monaural or binaural fittings.

5. Our money-back guarantee

Your hearing aid is supplied to you with the full benefit of our 60-day money-back guarantee. If you are dissatisfied with your hearing aid, you can return it to us within 60 days of fitting. We will refund the price of the hearing aid(s)in full once all items are returned to Blackdown Hearing, including hearing aid(s), accessories and batteries. You will be liable for the cost of all items that are damaged or not returned within 60 days from the fitting date. Nothing in these conditions will reduce your statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods.

6. Rehabilitation consultation and aftercare

With every new hearing aid fitting, a period of rehabilitation is necessary. As part of our aftercare commitment to you, we undertake to provide you with further personal follow-up appointments after fitting your hearing aid for the length of your warranty. Such appointments will assess your progress and offer any further assistance that may be required. These further appointments will be arranged with you, or they may be arranged by contacting us as detailed below.

7. Hearing aid warranties

Hearing aids supplied will come with a two-year product warranty unless otherwise stated. Our warranty covers your hearing aid(s) against malfunction, breakdown and faulty workmanship. The warranty does not cover items such as ear moulds, receivers, remote controls or Bluetooth accessories. Repairs or re-shells required due to misuse, accidental damage or loss of hearing aid are not covered by the warranty and would be chargeable. In addition, faults due to unauthorised repairs, wax or moisture are not covered by the warranty. Nothing in these conditions will reduce your statutory rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods. Blackdown Hearing recommends that you clarify with your insurance company whether or not you are covered for personal effects outside your home.

8. Earwax removal

Earwax removal is only available in the clinic and for those over 18. Wax removal via microsuction or irrigation is considered safer than other methods. Complications of earwax removal with microsuction or irrigation are uncommon; however, possible complications, side effects and material risks inherent in the procedure include but are not limited to: incomplete removal of earwax requiring a return visit (for severely impacted wax), minor bleeding, discomfort, dizziness, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), perforation of the eardrum and hearing loss. To ensure the risk of complication is minimal, it is essential that accurate past medical history is supplied to our clinicians. In addition, it is important that the patient remains relatively still during the procedure, as sudden movement may significantly increase the risk of eardrum perforation, permanent hearing loss and/or bleeding. The CE-marked suction unit is to remove fluids from the airway or respiratory support system and infectious materials from wounds and has been adapted for aural microsuction. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you accept that you have read and understand the possible complications that may occur and agree that Blackdown Hearing, or any of its employees, cannot be held responsible for them.

9. Covid-19

Blackdown Hearing will do everything possible to ensure we keep you safe from Covid-19. If you accept your appointment, Blackdown Hearing cannot be held responsible if you contract Covid-19. You accept your appointment at your own risk, and we accept to carry out the appointment at our own risk.

10. Card payment processing

All card payments are provided through iZettle, our trusted third-party payment service provider. We transfer the purchase amount, dates and card data to fulfil purchases to industry standards. All payment data, as well as data on any charge-backs, are only stored for as long as they are needed for the processing of payments (including the processing of possible return debits and collection).
