Just when I thought hearing aids couldn’t get any better… they got BETTER!
I can be very sceptical when it comes to hearing aids. I think that’s because I’ve worn hearing aids my whole life, which has now been over 40 years. I started with analogue body aids & bulky BTEs when I was about two years old. Back then, there was constant feedback and noise coming from my hearing devices as my ears were changing and growing. It was a continual battle for me and my family, teachers, and friends. This was the standard that I accepted throughout most of my life - and one that I thought I was destined with for the rest of my life.
Then one day in 1998 - in my 21st year - my audiologist sent me to the Starkey Center of Excellence in Minnesota. It was there where my life changed forever. Starkey raised the bar in my standard of hearing, and from that day forward, I’ve witnessed over 20 years of dramatic changes in hearing technology. I’ve seen it go from analogue to programmable, digital, and now artificial intelligence (AI). I’ve learned never to settle and expect the standard of hearing to keep climbing and improving our quality of life.

Today, I proudly wear Starkey Evolv AI hearing aids. Last year, I was wearing the Starkey Livio devices, and I’ll admit that I was so over-the-moon happy with them and didn’t want to switch to anything else. One of the primary reasons I don’t like switching to another hearing device is because every time you put on new hearing aids with new technology, it takes a while for your brain to get accustomed to the new sounds. I kept telling myself that it couldn’t get any better than my Livios, but what if there was something better that could get me a little more closer to better and normal hearing? So I decided to give them a try.
Honesty has always been my best policy, and I would never embellish or exaggerate to mislead anyone, especially when it comes to one of our five senses. 43 years of wearing different hearing aids and devices, and all the research and technology combined cannot approach the sublime and ultimate experience of wearing these new Evolv AIs. Just a few new observations I’ve noticed with my new Evolv AI hearing aids:
They are now compatible with Apple’s 2-Way Audio protocol on my iPhone. This allows my Evolv AI hearing aid’s microphones to be used for voice pick-up during calls. Now I can have hands-free conversations!
I can now hear the high-pitch car signals when I take a left/right turn while driving.
I not only “hear” conversations in the car better, but I can “understand” my wife and kids in the car, and that is a game-changer not only for me but everyone in my family. They appreciate that they don’t have to repeat over and over again until I get their message.
Thanks to my new Starkey Evolv AI hearing aids, I’m living life to its fullest and loving every minute of it!
